Don't run away! (like Jonah🐳)

It's time to surrender...

Hello, my fellow believers!

Have you ever felt an urge in your heart to do something bigger, something maybe even a little scary, but every time you get close to saying "yes," you find yourself running in the opposite direction? If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. In fact, there’s someone in the Bible who did exactly the same thing—and his name was Jonah.

Jonah’s Story: The Original Runner đŸƒâ€â™‚ď¸đŸ’¨

You might know the basics: God called Jonah to go to Nineveh, a place known for its wickedness. His mission? To warn the people that their lives needed to change. But instead of obeying, Jonah panicked and literally jumped on the next boat going in the opposite direction. Not a great start, right?

Jonah didn’t want to face what God was asking of him. So, he tried to avoid it, convinced that he could escape God’s call. But as we know, things didn’t go as planned. The storm, Jonah being thrown overboard, and his three-day, three-night stay in the belly of a huge fish. Yikes.

The Truth About Running from God’s Call đŸŒŠđŸ‹

Jonah’s journey shows us a big truth: avoiding God’s call just leads us into more storms. Running from God’s purpose for our lives is like running on a treadmill that only gets faster. We stay stuck, worn out, and exhausted. But God is patient. He knows we can find our way back, even when we feel lost.

You see, Jonah’s story didn’t end in the belly of the fish. When he finally surrendered to God’s calling and obeyed, he was led to Nineveh, where his message changed lives. The journey wasn’t easy, but the destination was life-changing—for Jonah and for the people of Nineveh.

Stop Running. Start Listening. đŸŽŻâœ¨

Maybe you’ve been feeling that urge lately. Maybe it’s to serve, to speak, or to step into a new role you never imagined for yourself. Maybe God is calling you to be a light in a place where light is rare. Trust that God has equipped you for the journey, even if it feels daunting right now.

So here’s the challenge: What’s one thing you’ve been avoiding that you know God is calling you toward? Surrender that fear, that hesitation, that feeling of not being “ready.” When you stop running, you’ll find that God is right there with you, ready to guide you through.

Remember, your life won’t truly fall into place until you allow God to direct it. So let’s stop running and start embracing God’s incredible purpose for us. Like Jonah, when we finally say "yes," we’ll reach a destination that’s worth every step of the journey.

Stay encouraged, keep the faith, and let’s enjoy the journey with purpose!

Much love, Sarah Karlsen
