Don't run away! (like Jonahđł)
It's time to surrender...
Hello, my fellow believers!
Have you ever felt an urge in your heart to do something bigger, something maybe even a little scary, but every time you get close to saying "yes," you find yourself running in the opposite direction? If that sounds familiar, youâre not alone. In fact, thereâs someone in the Bible who did exactly the same thingâand his name was Jonah.
Jonahâs Story: The Original Runner đââď¸đ¨
You might know the basics: God called Jonah to go to Nineveh, a place known for its wickedness. His mission? To warn the people that their lives needed to change. But instead of obeying, Jonah panicked and literally jumped on the next boat going in the opposite direction. Not a great start, right?
Jonah didnât want to face what God was asking of him. So, he tried to avoid it, convinced that he could escape Godâs call. But as we know, things didnât go as planned. The storm, Jonah being thrown overboard, and his three-day, three-night stay in the belly of a huge fish. Yikes.
The Truth About Running from Godâs Call đđ
Jonahâs journey shows us a big truth: avoiding Godâs call just leads us into more storms. Running from Godâs purpose for our lives is like running on a treadmill that only gets faster. We stay stuck, worn out, and exhausted. But God is patient. He knows we can find our way back, even when we feel lost.
You see, Jonahâs story didnât end in the belly of the fish. When he finally surrendered to Godâs calling and obeyed, he was led to Nineveh, where his message changed lives. The journey wasnât easy, but the destination was life-changingâfor Jonah and for the people of Nineveh.
Stop Running. Start Listening. đŻâ¨
Maybe youâve been feeling that urge lately. Maybe itâs to serve, to speak, or to step into a new role you never imagined for yourself. Maybe God is calling you to be a light in a place where light is rare. Trust that God has equipped you for the journey, even if it feels daunting right now.
So hereâs the challenge: Whatâs one thing youâve been avoiding that you know God is calling you toward? Surrender that fear, that hesitation, that feeling of not being âready.â When you stop running, youâll find that God is right there with you, ready to guide you through.
Remember, your life wonât truly fall into place until you allow God to direct it. So letâs stop running and start embracing Godâs incredible purpose for us. Like Jonah, when we finally say "yes," weâll reach a destination thatâs worth every step of the journey.
Stay encouraged, keep the faith, and letâs enjoy the journey with purpose!
Much love, Sarah Karlsen
